Large Victorian Chemist Bottle with Pins & Needles

Large Victorian Chemist Bottle with Pins & Needles

PrisFrån 22,00£

Some colourful finds resuced by some brave local bottle diggers!

As soon as I spotted these I knew they'd be perfect for storing a few precious pins or needles.

Back in Victorian times these mini bottles were used to hold medicines and other types of liquids - hence the reason for the use of brightly coloured glass and some of them being embossed with the words 'NOT TO BE TAKEN'; to protect people from accidentally swallowing the contents.

Each one has been thoroughly cleaned and been given a brand new cork stopper, ready to be used once more for a slightly different use.

These are all in good condition with no major cracks, although please expect the odd minor lip chip, or a mark or two from decades of lying underground.

Each bottle will be supplied with eleven different needles which would make the perfect set for any newbie mender including:

  • 1 x Sharps (40mm length) for general repairs e.g. seams & buttons.
  • 1 x Tapestry (40.5mm) for fine knitwear/t-shirt repairs.
  • 1 x Chenille (44mm) for repairs to thicker fabrics.
  • 1 x Cotton Darner (48mm) for repairs to non-stretch fabrics.
  • 1 x Tapestry (48.5mm) for sewing in loose ends on knitwear.
  • 1 x Cotton Darner (54mm) for repairs to non-stretch fabrics.
  • 1 x Cotton Darner (57.5mm) for repairs to non-stretch fabrics.
  • 1 x Tapestry (58mm) for repairs to chunky knitwear.
  • 1 x Long Darner (66mm) for repairs to non-stretch fabrics.
  • 1 x Long Darner (68mm) for repairs to thick non-stretch fabrics.
  • 1 x Ballpoint (78mm) for fine knitwear repairs.

All this information is included in your very own 'Message in a Bottle', so you (or any lucky recipient) can refer back to it in the future.

Each bottle will also contain five colourful glass head steel pins still produced today on the original machines still in operation at the BOHIN factory in Normany, France using authentic glass from the Italian island of Murano.
